Sprouts and Microgreens: How to Make Fresh Vegetables in Winter

By now we all know I love webinars and learning new ways to do things. Sprouts and micro greens aren’t a new concept by any means, but I’ve certainly never dived into them. Honestly, I thought it was one of those fad things meant to convince you that you were doing something healthy. Last week, I was enrolled in a webinar series by Caroline Thomas about homesteading anywhere. In that series, she explained how growing sprouts and micro greens lets you have fresh vegetables through the winter.

By the end of the week, I wanted to give growing them a try. Along with other health problems I’m working through, I have stomach issues that refuse to go away. I learned sprouts have enzymes that salads and vegetables don’t offer. No guarantees that they’ll “cure” anything, but I figure it’s worth a shot! I have broccoli seeds soaking in a jar and a micro green packet in a tray on my fridge. I’m afraid that with starting so recently, I don’t have an update on anything resembling a plant. But the excitement’s still there!
